Quite a horrific turnabout from earlier recognizing that Roe was a terrible decision, regardless of if you agree with the idea of federally-forced legality of abortion.
Hardly a turnaround. Ginsburg has always been a supporter of abortion rights, she just doesn't think the legal basis of Roe was as strong as it might have been. And she didn't speak to the basis of the opinion in her remarks. It is interesting that she's so certain of Roe's staying power. Perhaps she knows something about the thinking of the conservatives on the court that the rest of us do not. It is interesting that after 35+ years of wrangling over the issue, there's been very little movement on the legal basis of abortion.
