    Primary Day

Well, there are a number of primary elections in the US today. This will be a thread to discuss those elections, their outcome, and their significance.

In Pennsylvania we have Joe Sestak vs Arlen Specter and Tim Burns vs Mark Critz.

In Arkansas we have Blanche Lincoln vs Bill Halter.

In Kentucky we have Rand Paul vs Trey Grayson.

It will certainly be an interesting day.

No-one has any thoughts about today's elections? Any predictions or views to share?

Believe Arlen Spector has outlived his usefulness (if he ever had any). Have no idea who/what his opponent is, but suspect the new guy will be on the ballot in November.

I think many of the old line Democrats don't trust Mr Specter and after his underhanded methods in trying to keep his seat, who can blame them?

I'm hoping that Rand Paul pulls it out against Grayson. He has fought an uphill battle most of the way, in spite of the opposition of the RNC and various other GOP crumbs.

I think Specter shot himself in the foot by changing parties. How can that be seen as a plus?

It's not just Specter, though. Incumbents on both sides are going to have a tough go of it.
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.

The other, of course, involves Hobbits and Orcs.

Yeah. And I just heard that turnout is really low. Incumbents are in trouble.
