    ATF siezes dangerous weapons!

They just seized $20,000 worth of machine.... that is to say, BB guns that shoot plastic BBs.

They're keeping us safe from plastic BB shooting airsoft rifles.

ATF Dodges FOIA, Still Has Seized BB Guns (Part IV)

It was only a month ago that a bizarre story broke in the Pacific Northwest, as Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers trumpeted their seizure of what they claimed were more than two dozen machine guns disguised as toys.
The problem with the CBP claim was that the items seized were 16 WE TTI (WE Tech) M4A1 and 14 WE TTI (WE Tech) M4 CQBR gas blowback Airsoft rifles that shoot plastic BBs.
    They really were toys.
But instead of admitting they can’t tell a toy gun from a real one, CBP turned these Airsoft rifles over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the agency agreed that these pot-metal made, plastic BB-shooting plinkers were honest-to-God firearms.

Hey, just be glad they haven't come for your Monopoly board game, too. I hear those little cannon play pieces can be really dangerous.
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.

The other, of course, involves Hobbits and Orcs.

Does anyone remember those toy guns that shot potato pieces? I'm sure those are next to be seized, along with cap-guns and water pistols. Those 'super-soaker' guns are probably classed as WMDs.

I remember those. Do they still make capguns? They used to use rolls of 50 or so caps, so you could shoot that six shooter over and over, just like the good guys in the old western movies.

I haven't seen one in some time. They were probably outlawed as dangerous or as leading kids to use real guns or some such thing.

I used to hit the roll of caps with a hammer for a bigger bang. My version of an IED.

I remember doing that, then I hit on the idea of putting a match head in an empty .22 shell, crimping the end shut, and then hitting it with a hammer. It makes a very satisfying bang. When a piece of brass flew off and embedded itself in my arm, it soaked in to even my dense teenage skull that maybe what I had been doing wasn't a good idea.
