They vote in Canada? Seems a little un-American.

GOOD for them. I watched one of their debates on C-SPAN. Harper's a competent, and good guy, but not a very skilled debater. He was letting this commie, and other weirdo from the Quebec Independence Party overpower em there. Glad Canadians saw thru their BS tho.

    Props Canada!

Who is the "commie"? The centrist or the democratic socialist, because in reality neither of them are "commies".

This was an asbolute blow for everything Canada is supposed to stand for. The Reform party - ehem, sorry, "Progressive Conservatives" - is not worthy of leading this country. Their re-election is a knee jerk reaction from centrists who do not want to go to the polls again in the next year (which would probably have happened over the budget).

I am glad the Bloc Quebecois will lose their party status.
Lasting change is a series of compromises. And compromise is all right, as long as your values don't change.

Socialists and Communists are almost one in the same, so it's kinda obvious. Canada voted RIGHT, literally lol. Now hopefully they can tear down many of your stagnant, and failing socialist institutions.

That will not happen if the Conservatives want to be elected ever again. They can tweak our so-called "socialist institutions" but they will never eliminate them. Ever. It would be political suicide. Same for the worries of them revisting our lack of abortion laws - majority of Canadians support and and generally agree on major issues. Going against that majority is as good as saying they don't want to be in power again.

And no, they are not one in the same.

Canada appears to be inching more rightward everyday. And YES, they are, look em up, both rely on a strong, bloated, centralized government planning the economy and the restricting of any rights that may entail.

    History 101 also.

How exactly are we becoming more rightward? Can you give examples?

Socialism and Communism are two entirely different types of systems in modern thought/practice. It's an extremely outdated and narrow-minded view to try and argue they're the same - similar, absolutely, but have many differences as well. History 101 in the 1950s, perhaps.

.......Seriously? Are you not following your own national news right now? LOL yall just voted in a conservative majority government, 1st time in a LOOONG time I'm hearing. This will make whatever PM Harper really wants, easier to get, props again.

A Communist is a Socialist with a gun in his hand. Awesome old saying that remains true to this day. ANY differences are small, few, and far between......but I'll give you some.
