President Lee of S. Korea announced this last Wednesday, that the South would push for Disarament of the North's Nuclear facilities and uranium enrichment program.....Lee is pushing for the 6 party talks.....while at the same time The South's Defense ministry stated it will be deploying unspecified key assets on the front line islands in case of an attack by the North and that these key assets will allow the South to defend and also give them the capability to strike back immediately.....
President Lee stated it should be stressed to the people this coming year that the View of Unification is not that far away. Again while the South has made a move to appoint a Unification Minister.....The Unification Minister Hyun In-taek told reporters, people in the North have become aware of changes outside their country. That Private markets are spreading in the North.
Does this seem like purely political politicking by the South? National news Coverage and they are openly talking about Unification? While no talks with the North haven't even begun. Appointing a Unification Minister despite the North not having one.
Now moving unspecified key assets to the front lines.....anyone else thinking Kim Jong Il is not going to go for such.....this after the South stated it was going to begin building fortresses on those Islands. Which the North promptly responded back as to how they would percieve such an act.
In the meantime the US has stated until there is progress on the dismantling of their Nuke program and the ceasing of belligerent acts by the North.....there will be no talks. Reinterated by Sec. of State Clinton. Yet now the South despite what the US is saying has petitioned the UN for 6 party talks.....Consistently the News media for that part of the World is harping on the fact that there is only a truce and not an ending to the Korean Conflict. That Russia and China called for Emergency Security Counsel meetings and was struck down by the US.....That the South and their boasting of Unification is not sitting well with the North as there have been no talks. Other than a pact for Tourism which has the plug pulled on it for now. Anyone else get the feeling that the North did not like the response by China and Russia? Thoughts?
