I guess it's too much to ask for the heroes of 9/11 to ask the government for anything in return. What a bunch of slackers and malingerers. Get a job, already, and quit ruining Christmas for the GOP.Asking politely hasn't worked for ailing 9/11 responders, so Thursday they are trying civil disobedience in hopes of jarring loose stalled legislation meant to help.
About a dozen of the people who worked at Ground Zero plan to barge into senators' offices and demand backing for the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act.
"This bill will live or die in the foyer of your office because we will be leaving with your assurances, or with the assistance of Capitol Police," 9/11 advocate John Feal warned in a note to senators Wednesday.
"The great Capitol Police force, made up of great men and women, will need to drag 9/11 heroes from your halls, Senator, because we plan on staying. We can only imagine the headlines come Friday morning."
Feal, founder of the Feal Good Foundation, and other responders have grown increasingly frustrated with politicians on both sides of the aisle.
Republicans angered them by blocking the $7.4 billion measure on grounds they wanted to extend tax cuts for the wealthy first. The Senate did so Wednesday, but Republicans still are not stepping up.
