FBI arrests Birmingham, Alabama, mayor

Also named in the 101-count indictment are William Blount, 55, a Montgomery, Alabama, investment banker, and Albert LaPierre, 58, a Birmingham lobbyist, neither of whom returned calls from CNN.

Note that nowhere in the CNN article is Langford's party affiliation made clear.

Oddly, this situation appears to occur in several other news service stories as well.

A little research though tuned up this interesting article. And another one!

I wish that would become a trend. Remind me again why party affiliation matters?

But, you still haven't told me why you are so obsessed with party affiliation and why it is so important to you. Guilt, to me, never had anything to do with that. I am a thin man and 'your' obsessions are not obvious so I would think maybe, possibly, but probably not, you might be able to put some logic behind this current line of thinking?

Party affiliation matters because most people vote upon that basis. Further, a political party represents a body of philosophy, explicit, implicit and occult. (Occult here means hidden, not satanic.) If one is to vote for a party member, it is incumbent upon one to understand the true political philosophy one will be helping to empower, no? ( By "true" we again refer to the express, implied, and concealed truths.)

So. In the case of elected officials, whether incompetent Mayors such as Ray Negan, or apparent criminals such as Kwame M. Kilpatrick, or Richard Nixon, it behooves the responsible citizen to inform themselves as to party affilitation. Responsible journalists will provbide the information without express demand.

Your op refers to an article about a legal procedure against the mayor of Birmingham. Party affiliation should not come into play when deciding ones guilt. There, believe it or not, are some people that would label guilt based on what party someone is. I think that the story focuses more, and rightly so, on the allegation of wrongdoing, instead of what political party one belongs to. That is probably why that information is not included.

My interest is in the editorial decisions made by the press. I don't imagine that if it were a Republican mayor, his affiliation would be suppressed.
