PSYCHIATRISTS have detected the first case of "climate change delusion" - and they haven't even yet got to Kevin Rudd and his global warming guru.
Writing in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, Joshua Wolf and Robert Salo of our Royal Children's Hospital say this delusion was a "previously unreported phenomenon".
"A 17-year-old man was referred to the inpatient psychiatric unit at Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne with an eight-month history of depressed mood . . . He also . . . had visions of apocalyptic events."
(So have Alarmist of the Year Tim Flannery, Profit of Doom Al Gore and Sir Richard Brazen, but I digress.)
"The patient had also developed the belief that, due to climate change, his own water consumption could lead within days to the deaths of millions of people through exhaustion of water supplies."
But never mind the poor boy, who became too terrified even to drink. What's scarier is that people in charge of our Government seem to suffer from this "climate change delusion", too.

not a bad plan if you are one of the elites. The lucky ones are the dead which is comparably better than living as a slave.

Sorry but Andrew has about as much cred on global climate change here as a klepto with pockets full of jewellery

I mean - this is a new low even for Andrew. To use a the delusions of a paranoid schizophrenic to make an argument is about as ethical as touting for human guinea pigs.

Now I am sure I could find lots of people with paranoid delusions about the effects of Electromagnetic radiation - does that make electricity companies at liable for the delusion? Does it make it true or untrue??

So the fact there are hundreds of people in mental institutes who think god talks to them, and/or killed because god told them to, means god is a delusion and doesn't exist?

I note the article like you takes a delusion and tries to turn it into the equivalent thoughts or positions of those warning about environmental disasters.

The problem of course with your analogy like the article you quote is you fail to understand what a delusion is.

A person such as this 17 year old suffers from a delusion probably because he has early developmental signs of schizophrenia which often first shows up as delusions when a person is finishing puberty or likewise manic depression or some very real psychiatic illness.

The delusion could have been about anything. It was something the brain picked up radomly from the noise around it and distorts.

This patient's problem is far more complex then a delusion. The delusion is merely a symptom.

All you have done is engage in name calling, i.e., calling people you do not agree with delusional or crazy.

Kind of unoriginal don't you think calling someone crazy because you disagree with them?

That is the best you have to debate global warming or environmental problems the world is facing?

See for some of us we find your trying to suggest people concerned about what is happening to the world's environment is nothing more then you in denial. That too can be thrown at you just like you try throw this person's illness in the face of those of us who see the world's environment in crisis and want to do something about it.

Must be nice being so smug knowing anyone who doesn't think like you is "delusional".

Come to think of it, you sound delusional.
