The Iraqi Government - A step in the right direction.

Iraq army officer ordered held after bombs kill 180

    From CNN.com

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has ordered the arrest of a top army officer because of "the weakness of security measures" following the deaths of amore than 180 people Wednesday in a string of bombings.

This is a sign that the Iraqi government is taking a harder stance and is making a serious effort to bring about order by removing some of the military officers that aren't doing their jobs. My brother was in Iraq for a year to train them and he told me the following.

'Those officers were chosen almost at random through old boy networking and family influence'

I've long thought that a lack of disipline and leadership training among the Iraqi authorities and military was a serious issue. I'm glad to see the government leaders doing something about it.

What if the Guy did all he could and Maliki is making it look like hes taking acton or worse yet is taking his anger out on people?

A step in the right direction.
'The right direction' has been land-mined for a decade... don't go THAT way!

I actually adressed this in the original post.

Now while I cannot indict every single Iraqi officer I can tell you that the average in Iraq's military leadership is abysmal.
