The CBS program '60 Minutes' broadcasts an interview with President Bush's former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill on this date in 2004. Despite President Bush implying that dealing with Iraq is required because "the dynamics have shifted ... because of what happened on September the 11th" former Treasury Secretary O'Neill says that "From the very beginning, there was a conviction, that Saddam Hussein was a bad person and that he needed to go". O’Neill says that only ten days after the inauguration getting rid of Saddam was topic "A", eight months before 9/11. "From the very first instance, it was about Iraq" said O'Neill.

Presidential candidate Bush speaks on this date in 2000 in South Carolina: "Rarely is the question asked, Is our children learning?"
