    What happened to this steel?

This actually had another one with a wide angle shot from a distance and it looked the same. I couldn't find it again...yet.

It was quickly shipped off, melted down, and turned into a U.S. warship.

If karma has its way, this fucker will sink.

Inkslinger: "If the GOP were a car, it would have one gear.... REVERSE. " Oh, I like that. Of course, is the Democrat party were a car, they would ride in luxury while fifty working stiffs pushed the car.

There's a lot of men on that ship and none of them have anything to do with the Trade Center attack.

I suppose. In any case, we volunteered for this job.

    It's actually a cool ship.

The DDG-1000 Zumwalt-class destroyer (formerly DD(X)) is a new U.S. Navy war ship destined to provide the foundation for all Navy surface combatant ships to be built in the 21st century. The DDG-1000 is a multi-mission destroyer and the centerpiece of a family of ships (including destroyers, cruisers and littoral combat ships) that will operate within the construct of the Surface Combatant Navy. The DDG-1000 is unique in providing an integrated warfare system—in essence, a single integrated command center that affords it the ability to operate in a multi-domain perspective including land attack, undersea warfare, and anti-air warfare.

No disrepect Gabe, but hopefully one day, it will be used for defense instead of imperialism.

On Gypsy's thread about working for an immoral company, the military 1st came to mind.

Mind you, it's not so much the military itself that is immoral, it's the bosses they take their marching orders from.

Have you ever run across fellow servicemen that want out because of changing politics?

There is some wrong, we can all agree. But we do live in a world where there is a hell of a lot of political manuvering and posturing... so I am not sure how we can avoid taking our part in the game. *shrug*

Not exactly. I have come across some who joined up because they like the paycheck during peacetime, but want out because they don't want to actually serve. I've come across some who love the job, but feel the deployments are too often. This I agree with. The men and women of my unit are very diverse in politics, ethnicity, and background... and I haven't really seen the political landscape change anything for them outside of the two previous examples.
