I thought you said it was law that they had to have a Social Security number, that you legally had to not close on their home if they did not, and now this guy, who managed to get a loan (not from your beloved Banco Popular but from Citibank no less) was able to close on his house?
Awesome Trip. Seems I was right all along. You don't know the law, you are not an escrow agent, and you are not legally required to not close on a house if the guy is an illegal, nor was his legal status even an issue.

I thought you said you could read? Once again, stop putting words in my mouth. And as far as that gibberish in your last paragraph...I think you need some serious reading comprehension lessons.

The new Bank of America card is open to people who lack both a Social Security number and a credit history, as long as they have held a checking account with the bank for three months without an overdraft, the Journal said.
In order to open a checking account (as verified by my personal bank) at least here in California you need to physically possess your State ID and have (though not possess) your social security number. I would assume as an existing custermer with financial records on file, the process is made easier.

Maybe, and I'm not sure what to think about the ITTN...seems like it would give a backdoor way toward semi-citizenship while still reaping the benefits of free health care, etc.
Credit card aimed at illegal immigrants Bank of America’s card for those with no Social Security
Banks giving accounts (BoA is one) to "undocumented" illegals. These people don't have ID. They obviously don't go through same crap you and I go through to get an account. Yet another failure in this system.
3 Steps To Getting A Credit Card With No US ID
And here it becomes clear. The banks are taking accounts based on Mexican ID's, as evidenced by this lady questioning her loan officer - they take ID's from the Mexican consulate. No US notary can legally accept that.
Bank of America launches credit card for illegal immigrants - On Deadline - USATODAY.com
BoA admitting themselves that these customers are "undocumented". IE, they didn't do what you did to get an account.
We can go in these circles all day long. For TFM, and I'm tired of repeating myself, yes I am an escrow officer, unfortunately for you. For Michele, if you can't see the breakdowns in the system by now, I doubt if you ever will. By Bank of America's own admission, they're practically handing credit to undocumented persons (ie, not citizens) that are going through less rigorous checks and demands than citizens do to get these programs.
I'm done with this debate, as its pointless. At some point you people are going to have to open your eyes. This little problem is only going to get worse. All banks are doing now, is taking people with mexican consular id's and giving them accounts.

Go in circles? I'm just very confused. You swear something is true, then it's not but you swear it's true, then it's not, but it has to be true 'cause you say so, but it's not true. I need your help Trip. I need to know what's true, and for some reason you can't tell us.
A link, please, to the law that says an escrow officer needs to verify ID and if they are illegal you can't close. Please. I need your help.

I know you're confused, that much is painfully obvious, trust me.
I said its true, and it is. Hasn't yet been refuted, though I've given plenty of examples of exactly how "undocumented" (read - illegal aliens) are getting credit cards, etc. All you've done is one, accuse me of not being an escrow officer (lol) and two, talk gibberish like this post I've quoted.
Michele, i'll admit, at least has meaningful debate, at some points. All you've done is follow in the wake of her threads and tried to do some chest thumping. its become obvious to me that you don't read entire threads before you uncork your blow hole, and if you do, then you need some help with understanding what you read.
As far as ID's, since you have trouble with this one (thought it was common knowledge? my bad...) here's a little lesson for you on title insurance and notaries:
Notaries are required by law to verify your identification with either a state issued ID, a driver's license, or a passport. Its right in the jurat of every notarized document. Notary ledgers are court documents, and require a signature as well as a id/dl/passport number. Title companies won't insure people without proper identification. The reasons for this are quite obvious, even for someone that's lacking in the brain cell department. Banks don't like to loan money to people that title companies wont' insure, which is why Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will not insure these loans to illegal immigrants, documentation of this has already been provided for you.
